Default 27.5 monk possible?

I havent farmed with a 55 monk for ages, but I was thinking about this. What if you took a standard 55 monk (not UW farming) and farmed areas with no enchantment removal and threw in this:

Aura of the Lich {Elite} - Enchantment Spell
For 15-39 seconds, your maximum health is halved, but you take half damage from all sources. When Aura of the Lich ends, you're healed for 50-202 health.

So, health drops from 55 down to roughly 27 or 28. Taking half damage from all sources I think would apply after Protective Spirit is cast on you.

Has anyone tried before? I'm gonna test it out when I get home.

Its been tried/theorised a ton of times, but its an elite, plus SoA/SH allow you to take on infinite enemies.

Sorry to leave it dead.

ummm kinda unnecisary and elite is a high cost if you are going solo otherwise i would say spellbreaker 55's can already have constant +12 and full damage reduction

AotL requires points in Death Magic. You are going to be slower at killing because of lower attributes and lack of an elite/secondary profession choice.
As for enchantment order, you would have to use AotL after PS in order for it to have the desired effect.
If used before PS, the initial damage would be halved, then cut into 10%hp chunks by PS, therefore causing no visible change in damage recieved, unless the damage was lower than 10%hp to begin with.

still, since you only got 27 hp.
So before PS = 2 hp damage, after 1 hp
Both are better then 55 hp.

Your Elite should be for damage. Spiteful or Spoil Victor would be much better at killing, especially considering scatter. I can't imagine this doing any fast killing.

It really don't make much difference what health you have using Prot Spirit, either way it is going to take 10 hits to kill you. And the lower your health, the more vulnerable you are to Degen and Lightstealing... Not to mention you would have replaced your Elite skill that does all the killing. The only thing that would be good is handling degen with HB, since you will only be taking 2 dmg... but since Mystic Regen, HB would be no use in a Mo/D build.

Exactly...why would you sacrifice better damage via SoJ, SS or SV for a slower run due to scatter, and greater vulnerability to lifestealing / degen? Still...sounds like fun for something different

After entering a zone, die, and take off the -50 cesta. your HP drops to about that. Lots of fun, when farming undead and other baddies. especially undead since you can have that Dervish hp regen, and you cant die. (unless there is a enchantment strip somewhere. But that kills 55s anyway.)

Yeah, but SoA can be unlocked for ~500g in Kamadan if you already unlocked it. With AotL you waste elite and you have to:
a) capture that elite in end-game area of Prophecies.
b) use elite tome, which isn't very cheap.

SoA/SH is much better option. Or just normal 55.
V Use Shielding Hands.

I agree with just making a normal 55 with SV/SS and sacrificing once, and then switching out to a -20hp focus to give you 13hp :P

Works like a treat! Don't even need HB/Mystic Regen. Mending is enough :P

How exactly are you planning on killing anything without your elite slot?
